A geneticist from the University of Oxford, Professor Bryan Sykes, found an interesting discovery while studying the DNA from supposed Yeti fur. He studied two samples, one from Ladakh and the other from nearby Bhutan. The Ladakh sample came from a mummified specimen kept by a hunter that was estimated at 40 years old. The Bhutan sample was estimated 10 years old and was found by a film crew in a bamboo forest. Sykes compared the DNA samples with what was in the available database and found that it was a 100% match with a sample from a 40,000 year old jaw bone from an ancient species of polar bear. He believes that these bears might be roaming the wilds of the Himalayas as hybrid species. Both fur samples were brown in color.

New bears are also cool!
