I’d like to see an expansion on the mystical aspect of Varan, while still keeping them a prehistoric amphibian.

Many tales exist of animals holding mystical knowledge coveted by humans, so why couldn’t a prehistoric protoreptile with a bad temperament have picked up some tricks in their long existence?

The mystical powers of Varan should be subtle, I think like a stage magician, making human onlookers even overlook what happened. The scene where a sudden wind picks up in the original film as they spread their gliding membrane , would be a good reference point.

On a side note, a teamup of Varan and Gezora under alien mind control would be a terrifying scene. Wind and cold together….
