I still maintain the best way to update the autobots is to make them a competing revolutionary group to the decepticons, rather than fighters to restore the status quo of a “Golden Age” that was actually pretty awful in most continuities.
I’m tired of shades of gray that go nowhere (Animated and Transformers Prime), The Transformers have their roots in older superhero stories. I want to see freaking hope.
Instead of making the Autobots former opressors, if you want to give them flaws, hold up a mirror to how while they’re often written empathetic to their own and those they’re allied with, but horribly ableist to neutral parties.
On a side note: I’d like to see avoidance shipping undertones to Megatron’s and Optimus’s relationship. I like foe-yay, but I feel having it between the faction leaders distracts from the other characters. I’d like to see the series move away from the “Great Man Theory” of history, and over-focusing on their rivalry seems counterproductive.
For similar reasons, I’d also like to see Unicron and Primus downplayed in their thematic importance.
okay but imagine seeing Three Whole Girl Toys and suddenly your Dumbass Incel switch is flipped and activates your “sjw alex jones propaganda conspiracy cuck” protocols
Transgender transformers are already here, where have you been, numbnuts?
Why do transformers even have genders? They’re literally robots, and I think you could tell some interesting storylines breaking down how we construct gender using robots who don’t use traditional genders.
I think it would be interesting if its mainly those built on non-cybertronian planets are the ones that tend to develop gender identities, though certainly many would be different than those of humans
However writers seem oddly unwilling since the G1 cartoon to making Transformers able to create more of themselves on their own and instead dependent on their god or magic artifacts to do so. Despite that being half the fun of a robot race…
Which honestly feels like it takes away their agency as a species, and denies story opportunities out of slavishness to the Primus baggage.
On a side note, I was resistant to Transformers having genders on Cybertron for a while because I tied it to the current tendency the nonhumanoid transformers different races/ uplifted animals. I just feel body type shouldn’t be so limited.
(homage to Decepticon Icepick, the Pretender Monster)
Function: Philosopher/ Demolitions Instructor
Motto: The future is built upon the past.
With the fall of the Decepticon army, the once fanatical preacher of the Decepticon cause became more measured and joined the Predacons, appreciating the life of quiet self reflection punctuated by occasional outbursts of violence.
Always fond of bestial alt-modes, they have found the mode based on Blight’s natural form easy to adapt to, though their own systems make them quite a bit faster.
They have been instructing various Predacons in demolitions and salvaging, finding Rot Gut to be their most prized student.
Their ability as motivational speaker has only slightly improved since their time as a decepticon, they are still terribly unintentionally depressing.
Carries a stasis hammer (basically the exact same thing as the Justice Hammer Prowl uses) for dealing with unruly students.
Toy Tagline: Blowtorch leaps across the battlefield with his stasis hammer, surprising enemies who think they are safe from afar.

Yeah, I’d say use the Icepick name, but I didn’t see any picklike cyberverse accesories that could replace the hammer and feel right. I felt Blowtorch was an acceptable substitution.
Like say Scavenger, instead of winding up with the constructicons Bumblebee’s mandatory large green buddy. (I’d imagine him being built as a decepticon but the autobots took over the base he lived at and he hadn’t been fully indoctrinated so he just walks in the back door and goes to his room like nothing happened. After all the decepticons told him might makes right and didn’t the autobots just prove themselve’s mightier. The only reason the DJD wouldn’t be after him is they went after the guy who was supposed to mentor scavenger instead, writing Scavenger off a a “defect” rather than a defector.)
Or have Misfire as a flight instructor for the flying autobots. (he’s actually a very good flier, even if he sucks at actual combat.)
