He-Man reboot episode idea: Trapjaw

One of the techie herose note some strarnge readings from Trapjaw, that seem to indicate he’s not acting of his own free will as a lackey of Skeletor.

They capture Trapjaw and try to fix him despite his protestations. It ends awfully. He breaks out going out a rampage that requires Skeletor and He-Man to work together.

In the end, its revealed that Trapjaw works for Skeletor out of gratitude because he restored his free will. One day while Skeletor was casually warping through dimensions looking for things that might be useful,  he (literaly) ran into Trapjaw as he was acting as a one-man army in a gang war at the behest of his criminal masters.

Skeletor manages to win and gets Trapjaw repaired after investigating what the heck that was all about.

He-Mans friends apologize and Trapjaw accepts it mostly out of  wanting to forget it happened than any sincere acceptance.

Now I’m of the opinion He-man shouldn’t get any darker than that one Psychonauts level, so most the violence in the flashback is implied with fire and screams.

And it works with giving him lots of wacky accessories. He designs lots of weird non-lethal weapon attatchments as a way to try and escape his past.

Skeletor around the globe

I really love the idea that in some of the more backwater parts of Eternia where Skeletor is a minor folkhero because he showed up one day and took out a local villain for daring to enroach on his reputation as the evilest thing around.

Skeletor is oblivious to this,

And in other places, Skeletor is whispered as a horrible monster who drags off misbehaving children.

These thoughts are why I like origins where Skeletor actually being really freaking old.

He-Man & She-Ra: A Christmas Special (1985)

And What Happened Then

In Eternia They Say

Skeletor’s Heart Grew Three Sizes That Day

Whether He Wanted It To Or Not

And if he hadn’t already been undead, it would have fucking killed him.

Weirdly, Skeletor is not undead O.O

He just has a Skeleton Head…the rest of him looks normal (FOR ETERNIA) as that’s not a costume he’s wearing there, he is actually bright blue

Eh, depends on the continuity. In some he was originally King Randor’s long lost brother Keldor, in others he was a demon from another universe, and in still others he was originally from Etheria.

The Skeleton War has many conflicting origins on Eternia…

I kinda love the unused idea he was a villain even back in caveman times.(though still having his face back then). That’s wonderful and makes me think of how it was revealed in Tabaluga that the evil snowman villain of the show had been causing trouble since there were still dinosaurs.

Skeletor and He-man character arc ideas

I like the idea of Skeletor and He-Man both having parallel character arcs

He-Man’s problem would be while he’s good hearted, he can underestimate his friends sometimes and overestimate his own abilities.

Skeletor’s problem is he doesn’t appreciate his friends, and treating everyone like a minion even when they’re more accurately allies.

Both characters would work on and overcome their flaws, leading to the climatic showdown

But in the end, He-Man has more than just the power of friendship and family behind him. He has the compassion and gratitude of those he helped even when he did not know them.

Skeletor may have friends and loved ones, but He-Man in the end has more than that because he doesn’t limit his compassion to just those he knows.

A sort of a “harsh take” on “even evil has loved ones” but I thought it could be interesting.

If they go with the toy-concept idea of He-Man and Skeletors swords originally being halves of the same sword (but in the reboot making them long since reforged and not obviously still halves) it could be a way to explain why He-Mans sword isn’t as … sinister as She-Ra’s in possbily trying to remake its owner/host.

Also a handy explanation for him not being able to pull off some of the more magical effects of She-Ra’s sword…unless he cooperates with Skeletor.
