man i REALLY want to lb some original she ra because im mega curious what it was like and also i saw a clip of catra’s og voice and it made me laugh

ON THE OTHER HAND with the patreon stuff I’m so busy and I feel it SHOULD be a patreon option….

maybe I can do a small liveblog for fun as a bonus december thing, and if people like it I’ll make it a regular on the liveblog poll.

Classic Scorpia is a gift and I’d really like to see a tribute character to her as another scorpion person for modern Scorpia to interact with in a scene or two.

Classic scorpia resembles a small clawed . Which in real life have deadlier stings and less brawlers.

Who wants Clawdeen in She-Ra reboot?

I want Catra to get her pet lioness. Maybe Adora accidentally transforms a normal lion like she did Swiftwind, and she ends up with Catra. Could add bitter sweetness of her being a sort of “unintended gift” from her former friend.

Also, maned lioness are a thing in real life

edit: Thinking on this more it does open up things for Cattra. It terrifyingly gives her someone for Shadow Weaver to threaten in order to bring Cattra in line.

I imagine she’d love being able to use Clawdeen for propganda purposes, while Catra looks on “girly stuff” with disdain because of hubris and cynicism, much of the horde likely has fallen hook line and sinker for the anti-princess propaganda. Being the person who claimed an aspect of the enemies power for herself, oh yes that’s an ego stroker

In case you didn’t see it in my she-ra article I want you to see one of our top favorite scenes from the whole show

Okay context if you’re still too lazy for the article.

Skeletor baked a delicious berry pie. Really.

Then he left the pie on Hordak’s chair.

Hordak fell for this.

The pie was cursed.

The curse is literally that you start to fade in and out of reality and will disappear forever if nobody cares about you.

Hordak can’t find anyone who gives a shit if he lives or dies so he begs his own arch-nemesis, She-Ra, to help him find some wizard who lives in a cave because they were friends a long time ago.

And then we have this scene I posted.

There isn’t even one step to this entire sequence of events that isn’t funny enough all by itself.

I can’t listen to this with the sound on at the moment, but I’m trying to envisage a version where Hordak explains his plight to She-Ra and her only reply is, possibly as she inspects her nails in an offhand fashion, “Yes…. so? I’m sorry, but I fail to see the problem here”

You can’t truly appreciate this episode without Adora and Hordak’s backstory. Hordak kidnapped Adora from Eternia (he wanted both Adam & Adora- he knew they were destined for greatness, but didn’t know how exactly).  He lied and brainwashed her for years.  Yet, he also grew to be fond of her- grooming her to become a Force Captain in the Evil Horde.  He, for all intents and purposes is her father figure.  Shadow Weaver, explicitly wants Adora to think of her as a mother figure.  Knowing this, it gives the episode more depth.  She-Ra sheds tears for Hordak- it’s not implied that it’s because of their history.  But the subtext is there.

When I was a child, I thought the same thing, “Why don’t you let Hordak die so our lives can be so much easier?” (I felt the same way, when Flint saved Cobra Commander in “The Gamesmaster”.  He said that “GI Joe was dedicated to saving lives- even Cobra Commander’s”). As an adult, I appreciate the sentiment EVEN more especially on GI Joe as all the Joes are regular human beings serving in the military- something any viewer could grow up to do (even though they live in a sci-fi/fantastical world).

I hope the Netflix reboot doesn’t toss out all this delicious potential backstory (like Voltron: Legendary Defender did).

Now of course, it’s never ceases to amuse me that no one cares enough about Hordak to shed a few tears.  Seriously, he couldn’t find Imp.

But even with the added backstory to She-Ra and Hordak, it also means that despite her willingness to help, she still ultimately stopped caring enough for Hordak to give a shit. NOT EVEN  the person who he managed to persuade to help him cares enough about whether he continues to exist!!! How much of an incompetent dick would you have to be that not even your enemies hate you enough to continue to live so they could work their revenge on you? Hilarious.
