MP2: Aether

Somehow it took me way too long to realize Aether wildlife all developed from lifeforms imported from other planets (or possibly given as “planet-warming” gifts by allies of the Luminoth)

Remember, Aether has no Sun, its day/night cycle is artificial and done by channeling the strange energy unique to the planet. It was probably completely sterile before the Luminoth came.

In a way, the Ing might argue they are the first true natives of the planet.

Morph Ball

The morph ball module is primarily meant to free oneself from their physical senses and enhance meditation.

Samus uses it to sneak around and plant bombs,

I feel this says a lot about her character, and also alot about whatever Chozo made the bomb add-on. Do you think the other Chozo were all slightly scared of them?

I’d like to think it was this one guy who got peeved that people kept picking him up and putting him in awkward places while he was in a deep meditative trance. The prototype had just enough payload to result in “cartoon-style blackened face and hands”-type damage, but someone who’d been having trouble getting explosives in place for a demolition project took a look at it and went, “hey, this is just what the doctor ordered…”

“What do you mean you don’t get paid?”

“It’s against Terran Federation policy to employ foreign nationals in military conflicts.“

“How can you be a foreign national? You were born on a Terran colony world – doesn’t that mean you’re automatically a citizen?”

“Well, yes, but… okay, it’s the suit, see? Precursor technology is all kinds of illegal for private individuals to own and use, but nobody wants to risk trying to take it away from me, so on paper my person is a sovereign nation, of which I am both head of state and sole citizen.“

“That’s ridiculous.“

“You’re telling me? If I want to buy a coffee I have to get the barista to hand it to a customs officer who hands it to me, because technically it qualifies as international trade!“

“How do you live like that?“

“Eh… It has its perks. Last year I got an award for being the only representative democracy in galactic history to achieve 100% voter engagement.”

I feel like this could very easily be construed as Metroid fanfiction. Probably because I am, in fact, construing it as Metroid fanfiction.

Samus has had a rather interesting relationship with the Federation.

The only M-rated Metroid Game I would accept

Is if Phantoon was the main villain, leading the space pirate operations in the game.

That’s right, the Space Pirates have a spectral entity like something right out of the Ghostbuster cartoons in their rank.. It haunted an area of a crashed Space Pirate Ship that’ partially unearthed another crashed (Chozo) spaceship from the force of impact, and had a telepathic connection to Mother Brain.. (And Zero Mission later established Samus as causing that ). Any further lore is incredibly contradictory between writers, leaving Phantoon a mysterious figure.
