Skeletor and He-man character arc ideas

I like the idea of Skeletor and He-Man both having parallel character arcs

He-Man’s problem would be while he’s good hearted, he can underestimate his friends sometimes and overestimate his own abilities.

Skeletor’s problem is he doesn’t appreciate his friends, and treating everyone like a minion even when they’re more accurately allies.

Both characters would work on and overcome their flaws, leading to the climatic showdown

But in the end, He-Man has more than just the power of friendship and family behind him. He has the compassion and gratitude of those he helped even when he did not know them.

Skeletor may have friends and loved ones, but He-Man in the end has more than that because he doesn’t limit his compassion to just those he knows.

A sort of a “harsh take” on “even evil has loved ones” but I thought it could be interesting.

Dissapointing

When I learned there was a group of villains called Space Mutants in the He-Man franchise I was intriggued.

But apparently they’re all normal cyber-netically enhanced aliens with hardly any body horror at all.

Except Optikk, but he’s still written as a normal alien.

I mean some are awesome but I still felt cheated by the name

He-Man reboot idea: He-man’s fan following

I like the idea of He-Man being considered not especially attractive or strong-looking by most Eternians.

Because almost everyone on Eternia is freaking ripped!  Its a planet where various people and factions compete over whatever magical artifact fell from the sky that day. The interstellar magical equivalent of a garbage island!

So, people are unimpressed by He-Man at first, expecting more from his reputation.

Then he starts throwing down and showing how powerful he freaking is, and simultaneously showing what a goofball he is.

So no women or men fawning at the sight of him.

Feats and personality are what get people on his side, not looks.

He-Man reboot episode idea

Beastman is called out for his cat-hoarding problem by Skeletor. They are making a nuisance of themselves by getting into places they aren’t supposed to (and knocking dangerous vials over).,

Skeletor gives him a list of which well-behaved cats he can keep, (surpsising Beastman that Skeletor knows them all) and told to get rid of the rest.

Beast Man must then spend the rest of the episode finding homes for the kitties, eventually colliding with the main problem of the heros in a happy ending.

The more I toss around a theoretical reboot of  He-Man in my mind, the more it turns into basically Season 2 of Tabaluga with cthulhu and swords.

Complete with bad guys swapping between the various factions.

Also: new idea. Skeletor is the only one who doesn’t realize Prince Adam and He-man are the same.

I just really like the idea of Prince Adam actually going to a diplomatic meeting and Skeletor is there representing his own faction.

Theoretical He-Man reboot

I hope any writers can check their bloodlust at the door and make him an even bigger sweetheart than Adora.

I want to see mockery and subversion that edgy reboot where he took a baby spider hostage from its mother then killed it anyway.

I want him refusing to strike to kill robots until he’s sure they’re not people because he doesn’t assume.

I want him risking himself to make sure the people he knocked unconcious are okay.

Make him too pure for the world.

So comparing She-Ra and He-man , the main difference of their situations is that while She-Ra faces a united foe in the Horde, He-Man faces various villainous factions that are competing for dominance.

That’s opens story potential for a lot of moving parts in a reboot.

It also allows Skeletor to be his charming self without trying to make him completely serious because there are other villains to pick up the slack on raw menace.

Though what should make Skeletor occasionally the most threatening is that he understands and weaponizes the power of friendship just as well as He-man, even if he uses it for malice.

(Seriously, they had a magical friendship circle in the original show, where they powered their evil spell by thinking happy thoughts)

Evil-Lyn as a platonic tsundere contractor in a reboot

I love the sort of evil family vibe Skeletor’s group has, and I would want to preserve that in a reboot.

But how do you do that and still make Evil-lyn awesome?

A disconnect between the brain and the heart.

In the old cartoon, Evil-Lyn says she plots to steal Skeletors power in the old show…but we see them holding hands .

Heck, she once even ends an attempt to steal from someone in the old show after they save her life; telling Skeletor to do the work and steal it himself it for himself wants it so badly.

Evil-Lyn for all her badassery, is like the rest of Skeletors gang is basically just another childish adult trying to act cool.

We honestly should have figured she was overcompensating from her chosen name.

Still, she is also the most independent of the lot. She seems to be a magic user for hire among all the villains of the show, regardless of faction. But from what information I can find, in the old work she still never explicitly moves against Skeletor even if she offers services to his competitors.

It would be an interesting contrast to the two-faced Shadow Weaver in the She-Ra reboot . Evil-Lyn proclaims disloyalty but if put in charge of killing Skeletor… would she hesitate?
