A stunning realization

I just realized Orga and Zigra are (likely unintentionally) the clearest counterpart kaiju between the Godzilla and Gamera series

  • Intelligent Alien
  • Literally a part of their spaceship at first
  • Huge Ego (look at some translations of the text Orga was filling computer screens with)
  • Trapped in a monstrous form (or monstrously large form in Zigra’s case) upon the destruction of their ship

Viras biological analysis

Viras are a sapient species of extraterrestrial squid-like organisms. They have upper and lower sets of tentacles, and a head in the middle. Their head has two eyes and a small beak reminiscent of a parrot. Inside the head of a Viras is a very large brain as well as organs that help them communicate telepathically by boosting electrical signals. They have six lower tentacles, two of which are in the middle, and each tentacle terminates into an anus. They also have suction cups lining the undersides of their lower tentacles. Because their head doesn’t contain enough space for all of their internal organs, each lower tentacle contains a heart, a lung, and a full digestive system. Unlike earthbound cephalopods, if the tentacle of a Viras is cut off, it will not grow back. Above the head of a Viras is the upper set of tentacles, which consists of three short, broad tentacles that end in a point sharp enough to pierce rock.

Viras are endoparasites, and they need to implant their young into the body of another creature. The parasitic young will grow numerous external nerves that branch throughout the host body and assume full control of their host’s motor functions until they deem it necessary to leave the host body, upon which they will shed the external nerves. The memories of the adult are transferred into the embryos, ensuring that each Viras can become a fully functioning member of society immediately upon birth.

Viras also possess the ability to merge together to form a larger, more powerful Viras. This is only used as a last resort in emergency situations, as there is no way to reverse this process.

My personal exception to bloodthirsty heroes

I often criticize writers letting their bloodlust out too much in what they allow their heroes to do even when it betrays the characters themes or sets a bad example for children; and dissapointed when they use  “acceptable targets” (if it’s a robot its not legally murder! Now nobody ask if its murder in a moral sense) but there is one hero I have no complaints about

Gamera is a giant turtle monster, and friend to all children. Gamera while benevolent, does not have a human sense of morality, and how much they can be morally accountable is debatable given their nonhuman animalistic mindset

You threaten a kid on Gamera’s watch, and the only question is whether your death will be fast or slow.
