it’s so dumb that piercings and tattoos can impact your ability to find a job. employers shouldn’t be allowed to discriminate based on gender, race, sexual orientation, or level of punk-rockness

If you were about to have a surgery done, would you feel comfortable if she/he had gages and tattoos all over their face?

I mean presumably they went to medical school I literally would not give a single shit what they decided to put on their face

My first major surgery was done by a clean cut, gorgeous man with a French accent.

Didn’t stop him from fucking up my surgery and losing his license to practice here because he liked to do cocaine before surgery.

Its almost like how someone looks doesn’t dictate their qualifications.

*mic drop*

In jobs where violent confrontation is possible though, piercings might be a bad idea because they give one more thing for an agressor to pull though. So I can understand them not being allowed in that case.

Okay, I know I am absurdly late to the party on this, as I was with MCR, but anyone else agree that this vid is #VillainSongGoals?

Which, makes me think, it’s fascinating how we only really think of villain-songs in the context of larger narrative works when; really; there are plenty of one-off pieces of music, or even those part of a small grouping/trifecta like this one instead of a whole concept album n such, that are totally villain songs that aren’t really counted as such.

The Rolling Stones’ Sympathy For The Devil and The Killers Midnight Show come to mind immediately. Anyone think of any others?

This thing I found in an old (Public domain) horror comic was so relevant to the season but also goofy as hell that I’d be remiss if I didn’t blog it.

Also, @jessie-is-tired, @kramergate look.

this is now going in my space settings. every fucking spaceship just. brings a witch on the off-chance they run into some of this bullshit. obviously the witch has a “normal” job but they ARE wizened and they DO cackle constantly and are just WAITING for the day they run into magic planet bullshit

“Depression is humiliating. It turns intelligent, kind people into zombies who can’t wash a dish or change their socks. It affects the ability to think clearly, to feel anything, to ascribe value to your children, your lifelong passions, your relative good fortune. It scoops out your normal healthy ability to cope with bad days and bad news, and replaces it with an unrecognizable sludge that finds no pleasure, no delight, no point in anything outside of bed. You alienate your friends because you can’t comport yourself socially, you risk your job because you can’t concentrate, you live in moderate squalor because you have no energy to stand up, let alone take out the garbage. You become pathetic and you know it. And you have no capacity to stop the downward plunge. You have no perspective, no emotional reserves, no faith that it will get better. So you feel guilty and ashamed of your inability to deal with life like a regular human, which exacerbates the depression and the isolation. If you’ve never been depressed, thank your lucky stars and back off the folks who take a pill so they can make eye contact with the grocery store cashier. No one on earth would choose the nightmare of depression over an averagely turbulent normal life.
It’s not an incapacity to cope with day to day living in the modern world. It’s an incapacity to function. At all. If you and your loved ones have been spared, every blessing to you. If depression has taken root in you or your loved ones, every blessing to you, too. No one chooses it. No one deserves it. It runs in families, it ruins families. You cannot imagine what it takes to feign normalcy, to show up to work, to make a dentist appointment, to pay bills, to walk your dog, to return library books on time, to keep enough toilet paper on hand, when you are exerting most of your capacity on trying not to kill yourself. Depression is real. Just because you’ve never had it doesn’t make it imaginary. Compassion is also real. And a depressed person may cling desperately to it until they are out of the woods and they may remember your compassion for the rest of their lives as a force greater than their depression. Have a heart. Judge not lest ye be judged.”

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS.

Depression is not a synonym for being sad or having a bad day/bad week.

I’ll never forget the last in person conversation I had with with a woman I was on and off with for years because whenever there was an issue, she would just stop talking to me for months at a clip.

At one point she straight up blocked me and bragged to mutual friends about it. Friends went to me and told me to move on and that it’s her loss. Her and I didn’t talk for 2 years. In that time, I moved on to the point of getting married. Soon after I got married, she popped in to see if I was single still and lost her shit when she found out I had gotten hitched.

She tried to convince me to get a divorce and called me and idiot for getting married in the first place.

The best part… When she asked why I didn’t wait for her to “come around”. I told her she gave me no choice but to move on when she blocked me.

This was her answer: well a block is only temporary. You should have just waited for it to end then hit me up!

Yeah…. I’m so glad I didn’t.

fuck those people who play these games

People who play these games should be kneecapped

My dad nearly fell into this trap. He was engaged to a woman who would go silent for a while after an argument. Dad finally told her, “Either you’re by my side or you’re not. I’m not playing these high school games anymore. If you love me, talk to me. Otherwise, we’re done.”

He ended up marrying another woman who never played games with him and helped his better side come out.

This advise can go for anyone out there: if your SO is doing this shit, tell them to cut it out or you’re leaving. And follow through on that threat.

Get you a significant other who has good communication skills and will resolve problems together like a fucking adult

pacific rim really went OFF with drift compatibility. like, there was absolutely no reason the jaegers couldn’t be piloted by a single person; a bunch of teenagers managed it just fine solo in evangelion, but guillermo del toro was like “nah, we’re gonna reinvent the concept of soulmates with mecha and kaiju” and then went and did just that, the absolute madman,

And they also did that without making it inherently romantic

that’s like my favorite thing about the drift comparability concept tbh

siblings? drift compatible. married couples?drift compatible. parents and their kids? drift compatible. two folks who just met but trust and respect each other a lot? drift compatible, babey.

it ties in perfectly with the idea that jaegers are an effort made by the entire world coming together to fight a bigger threat. all kinds of relationships are valued in Pacific Rim, because what matters is people supporting people.

Um,… I’m pretty sure “just fine” is literally the exact opposite of how it went in EVA.

Like, I understand your point and agree with it, but things very much did not go “just fine” in EVA…
