The whole thing about “aging” the Claremont/Byrne characters too much is just nonsense anyway and ignores how old these characters were actually represented as before Aaron and Bendis’ came along and didn’t read anything. The median age of the New Mutants and Gen X are nearly the same. Jubilee was introduced at 15ish, at the same time Rahne and Bobby were 13-14. Even the oldest of the New X-Men (David, 17) are only 1-2 years younger than the youngest of the New Mutants at most (Rahne, 19)

The Marvel sliding time scale is kind of it’s own giant mess of problems…

But yeah, I don’t really think the New X-Men age them anymore than Magneto still having the Holocaust be part of his story or Dazzler being a disco star…

It’s just kind of another excuse writers/editors throw out to essentially avoid admitting they don’t want to develop the characters because they’re more diverse or see them as this weird threat to ‘the classics’, in my opinion…

 *cracks knuckles*

Colossus was introduced when he was 18.  Kitty Pryde, 14.  They were allowed to age, as they are now in that nebulous “25-30″ zone they keep Peter Parker.

Hell, speaking of him, he is roughly the same age (within 2 years or so) as the original X-Men. Well, logically, he would be.  Cyclops and Jean are in their 30s, and I’m still not sure if Spider-Man Editorial is comfortable with a Peter Parker over 30,

Now, early in the Marvel Universe, sliding timescale wasn’t much of a thing until the birth of Franklin Richards, and since then, things have slowed down. The current rate slowed to between 3 to 5 years outside to 1 year inside.  3 years in the 80s, 4 years in the 90s, and 5 years in the 00s and 10s.

So, let’s crunch some numbers.

So, by this formula, rough as it is, Kitty Pryde is roughly 25.

Colossus, 27.

The New Mutants have a wide range in age from 24 to 26.

Generation X?  21 to 22.

And now, the New X-Men.  They range wider because there are more of them.  Ignoring hiccups like Pixie, we have an age range of 17 to 20.

Generation Hope, because the New X-Men were shunted aside so quickly when Hope showed up.  Now they are 16 to 20.

And that’s where things stand.

Apparently, Xavier’s school doesn’t provide much in the way of classes after High School most of the time.

Of course.  This sliding timescale also means that House of M, Civil War, World War Hulk, and Secret Invasion all occured within roughly one year.

No wonder the civilians of the Marvel Universe are such jerks.  They are very stressed.

does no one realize that robin hood was a terrible role model for young kids? i mean you are stealing from people (illegal) and those people (usually) worked hard to get their wealth. it really demotivates people to succeed when they know they can get something someone else worked for.

is this what rich people worry about lmao

who knew the sheriff of nottingham had a blog

How does someone read Robin Hood and miss the part where it’s set in feudal England. He stole from people who got their wealth by exploiting the poor, incidentally that’s all rich people to this very day.

Tune in next week when they tell you the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge, a benevolent job creator, harassed during his sleeping hours by the hellish socialist dead.

already happened.

No, Robin Hood was a terrible role model because King Richard the Lion Heart was actually a huge fucking shithead who was the direct cause all those taxes England was suffering under, while John ended up, unintentionally, being a huge boon to the country over all, even if it was due to him being so utterly incompetent as a ruler.

Regarding Into The Spider-verse

zoe-nirvana:

The moment the movie comes out…

GO SEE IT!

Don’t make any excuses not to. Just go see it. Let it make a lot of money, even more than Venom is making right now. I want this movie to go into the billions or at least over 500 million, because even though it hasn’t come out yet…

It deserves a lot!

I have never been this hyped about a movie since Thor Ragnarok, and both that and Into The Spider-verse grabbed people’s attention the moment its teaser trailer came out. Even the first 35 minutes of the film has gotten critical acclaim from everybody who’s seen it, and it’s hyped up those who saw it a lot more because they want to know what happens next.

Don’t just do it for Miles. Do it for Sony. Their movies have often been regarded as sub-par or the worst to happen in animation *cough*Emoji Movie*cough* but if there’s anything they can do better with Spider-man than Disney, it’s animation. Spider-man: The New Animated Series, Spectacular Spider-man.

What has Disney done? Ultimate Spider-man and Marvel’s Spider-man 2017.

Yay.

Now, I know there are fans of these two, but admit it. They do not hold a candle to Spectacular Spider-man.

When are you ever gonna be able to get a Spider-man movie about Miles Morales? And a standalone one, nonetheless?

Hell, when’s the last time Kingpin was ever a Spider-man villain in a movie? I know he’s regarded a Daredevil villain, but he started out as a Spider-man villain. In fact, he hasn’t been a Spider-man villain in a cartoon since 2003′s New Animated series! This would be his return to a Spidey cartoon in 15 years! Go celebrate that, you guys!

Let Sony make a lot of money with this movie. Let this become a franchise they can milk alongside Venom.

I will repeat. One last time.

GO!

Hobgoblins and lizardfolk

virovac:

(I’ve stated before my idea of having hobgoblins having a sort of inborn mental toolkit for architecture, likely artificially induced in their genesis by an ancient race trying to “uplift” goblins. Hobgolbins thus believe they have a duty to “civilize” the world.)

The hobgoblins empire has in a surprise turn, become a proponent of the lizard folk race.; a shocking change their previous repeated genocide attempts in the name of “protecting trade routes”

While a few attempts seemed successful, in some areas the population mysteriously recovered despite the high number of confirmed kills.

The trick was that lizardfolk young do not require parental care to survive.

The young, mistaken for nonsapient pets and escaping the destruction, were able to rebuild; completely from scratch in the few cases where all adults had been successfully killed.

Possibly in an attempt to save face , the empire has thus decided that like themselves, lizardfolk are one of the few “inherently civilized” races , like themselves.

The few lizardfolk communities that have been integrated are treated condescendingly, but as having more potential than other non-hobgoblin races, even getting preferential treatment over other varieties of goblinoids
