It’s… odd that people are complaining about the new Robin Hood movie is “historically inaccurate“ considering there’s little to no evidence the man actually existed, just a generally agreed upon time period folks have sort of decided it takes place in (the Crusades, specifically around the time of Richard I/John I).

It’s kind of like complaining that King Arthur is historically inaccurate. That mythos is made up of a mixed bag of Celtic legends, post-Roman British history, Medieval French fanfiction, and Victorian historical revisionism, and the Robin Hood stories are comparised of the same hodge podge of different sources!

Admittedly by all accounts the new Robin Hood movie is apparently bad for numerous reasons, but the creators choosing taking a modernised approach to the stories (drawing comparisons between feudalism and modern day income inequality, for example) isn’t… a bad thing?
