Yeah! That’s it like this!
Nope. 😛 There are quite a few fans who are still interested and excited about the movie, though I can’t say I’m one of those fans myself.
Not everyone has to feel the same way about everything, y’know. No one likes an echo chamber.
I feel like this response is full of shit and made to de-legitimize what’s otherwise a quite apt negative response – which needs to be said in a situation like this. Sonic movie, so far, looks like something that’s in the hands of people who does not in any way care for the source material. The prime audience who wants it, however, are invested, and will call out on foul.
But it guess this kind of a rebuttal comes with a side of nice and warm internet-smug cookies, the whole thing about being “calm and collected” compared to all that “internet hysteria”.
The hysteria is warranted and a big amount of fans cry foul, and this meme is quite a good representation. If anything, I’ll go as far to say the “quite a few fans” are simply a minority that can be overlooked, compared to the mountains of rage and disappointment.
Let’s focus on how this movie looks and feels, and not the fans who, in this scenario, say it the way it is: looking so far disloyal and unappealing. Even if it’s a joke made at the expense of the fanbase to showcase just how clingy they are (as you were theorizing in another post), just the fact that they felt it necessary to alienate and make fun of the most loyal part of their potential demography to boost their promotion – I think that already says a lot about where they’re standing when it comes to their approach in developing this cinematic depiction of Sonic.
I can appreciate the irony of a balloon-chesticled Fem!Sonic lecturing me about character integrity.
At least I’m honest about my fetishes. I could have been one to stay in the eternal limbo of “I don’t wanna be TOO weird – but I’m obsessed with Eggman, just gonna play it safe for the internet creds.”
So having a favourite character automatically equates to having sexual lust for them.
