do non americans (or, for that matter, all that many americans) know about grape jelly meatballs?

aw come on, THIS gets “omg gross wtf” comments?? This wasn’t supposed to be ominous it was supposed to introduce you to something delicious, cheap, filling and easy 😦

A holiday or cookout tradition in parts of the US is just to slow-cook meatballs in a mixture of grape jelly and chili sauce. You can do 50/50 or two parts chili sauce to one part jelly in a crock pot or just a stovetop pot.

Cooked on low to medium heat for about three hours, the two elements blend into a completely new savory-sweet flavor that perfectly complements the meat, or meat substitute if that’s what you’re into, I’m sure tofu meatballs soak it up just as well.

Does this ACTUALLY look or sound gross? Do you guys know that ordinary steak sauce is made with raisins and anchovies???

We make these every year. I remember I was weirded out by the jelly part when I found out how to make it but it’s so good
