in dungeon meshi, laius names his living armor sword ‘kensuke’, which the fan translations I’ve read translated as ‘en guard’ because it sounds like a cool sword word and that was the catchiest approximation they could come up with, but here’s the thing: ‘ken’ is one reading of the kanji for ‘sword’, and ‘suke’ is a somewhat antiquated masculine name suffix
so in other words, laius literally named his sword “swordy”, or, if you want to be accurate to the tone of the original, something along the lines of “sir swordsly”
